Holly Berry Art & Crafts Fair

Looking for that special way to share the start of the holiday season with family and friends? Need to get your holiday shopping Started or Finished? Well then, you should plan to come to Frankfort and Elberta on November 27, 2021.

Begin the day with breakfast in one of the local restaurants and then check out all of the unique gift ideas from the craft and art exhibitors at the Holly Berry Art & Crafts Fair held at the Frankfort High School from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm.

A suggested $2 donation will be collected this year when you enter the show. All paid entries receive a FREE $1 raffle ticket (until 2pm) for our popular annual vendor raffle! Kids 15 and under are Free.

The Softball team will be selling Holiday wreaths at the Holly Berry Arts & Crafts Fair as their annual fundraisers.

CARRIAGE RIDES

Take a complimentary Horse-Drawn Carriage Ride in Frankfort departing from Frankfort High School from 10 am - 12:00 pm.

TREE LIGHTING PLEASE NOTE:  Frankfort's Annual Tree Lighting DATE HAS CHANGED!  Tree Lighting will be December 4 at 7:00 pm at Rotary Park. (next to City Hall) - NOT the same day as Holly Berry.  Come watch as we light the BIG TREE in downtown Frankfort!  Join in and sing along as the community comes together to sing Christmas carols at this long time holiday tradition in downtown Frankfort. Visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus!

Complimentary Donut Holes provided by the Frankfort-Elberta Chamber of Commerce and once again FREE Coffee and Hot Cocoa at PETALS & PERKS before and/or after the event! Mark your calendar for November 27, 2019 and plan on spending the day in the Frankfort-Elberta area.

Guided Snowshoe Hike at Michigan Legacy Art Park

Join Michigan Legacy Art Park on Saturday, Jan. 15th at 10am for an invigorating art tour! Enjoy an educational snowshoe with Executive Director Angie Quinn as she leads a tour on wooded, snowy trails to view the sculptures in the Art Park. All levels of snowshoeing experience are welcome.

“The snow is here! Snowshoeing through the Art Park is usually a new experience for many,” said Quinn. “Every season offers a unique perspective on these sculptures. Come and join us!”

Located on a 30-acre forest preserve in Benzie County on the grounds of Crystal Mountain Resort, Michigan Legacy Art Park connects visitors to the surrounding natural world through the lens of contemporary art. The Art Park embraces the beauty of the winter season, remaining open to the public every day of the year.

The tour lasts 1.5 hours and is free with $5 adult admission (complimentary for youth and veterans). Cash or credit card accepted. Additional tour dates are being planned as well on Saturday, Feb. 19th and Saturday, March 12th, both at 10am.

To attend the tour, meet at the Art Park trailhead at 10am on January 15, 2022. Be prepared for current weather conditions. Snowshoes are not provided but snowshoe rentals may be available from Crystal Mountain: (231) 378-2000 ext. 7000.  If there is no snow, it will be a hike.

February Benzonia Academy Lecture Series

“Sailing A Dangerous Lake Michigan”

Local historian Tim Foster will present “Sailing a Dangerous Lake Michigan” on Thursday, February 10, at 4:00 p.m. as part of the Benzonia Academy Lecture series.  This month's lecture will be offered live on Zoom and recorded for later viewing on the Benzie Area Historical Society’s website www.benziemuseum.org.


In his presentation, Tim will share details about the design issues of the early Great Lakes car ferry fleet and the resulting improvements.  The years covered will be 1892- through the mid-1920s.  

Tim Foster is a maritime history enthusiast whose family history in Benzie Co. dates to 1927. He is a member of the board of directors of the Benzie Area Historical Society and serves on the Programs and Community Outreach Committee.  Tim also serves on the board for The Society for the Preservation of the SS City of Milwaukee.  

This presentation is part of the Benzonia Academy Lecture Series, held on the second Thursday of each month, and offered by the Benzie Area Historical Society. Power Song Workshop

 A power sing-a-long song is a little tune, easy to sing, to help us find our way when we are facing hard times. All ages are invited to come together to create a power song (nursery rhyme/tune/verse/chorus) to help us get through hard times. During this workshop we will have the opportunity to exchange stories and ideas about what helps us get through challenges.

Stories that Heal is an arts and community health resiliency project focused on mental health, trauma and recovery through lifting local stories and artistic expressions to support collective healing. This program is part of a project led by artistic director/composer Molly Sturges with creative facilitators Tim Jones and Jane Kittendorf and includes community dialogues, creative workshops and story-gathering March-May 2022.  
 
A free community concert and discussion will be presented at The Garden Theater on May 15 and a podcast series about the project will be produced by Interlochen Public Radio. This is a Benzie County focused community partners project of the Northwest Michigan Arts & Culture Network with Interlochen Public Radio, The Garden Theater and featuring local (and regional) storytellers, musicians, and community members of all ages. Stories That Heal is funded by Arts Midwest, Michigan Arts & Culture Council (MACC) and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Frankfort Easter Egg Hunt

The Frankfort-Elberta Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Easter Egg Hunt is back on this year and schedule for April 16 at 10:00am. Over 3,000 eggs have been found in previous years. The Community Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 10:00 AM SHARP! at Mineral Springs Park in Downtown Frankfort. 

This event is very fast paced, so please be on time and bring a basket or bag for the eggs.

FREE EASTER EGG HUNT

Blaine Christian Church invites children up to age 11 years old to a free Easter Egg Hunt at the church on Saturday, April 16th at 11 am.  Children will hunt for plastic eggs filled with pre-packaged candy.

Weather permitting, the egg hunt, as well as the story time, will be outside.  After the hunt, adults and their children will be invited to stay for the story.  If it becomes necessary due to weather, the hunt and the story time will be inside.

Parents will need to dress children according to the weather and are encouraged to bring their own basket or bag for egg collection.  Also, children are encouraged to bring their friends

You and your family are welcome to meet Blaine’s church family on Sunday mornings at either our 8:30 am service or at our 11 am service.  Sunday School classes for children 2 years old through adults meet at 9:45 am.

 April is Poetry Month! Celebrate with us by stepping up to the mic to share your favorite poem OR poetry you have written. Or just come listen.
Readers may use original poems (preferred) or share favorites. The order of readings will be commensurate with sign-in sheet. Each reader will have 3-5 minutes to read depending upon total number of participants. Poems should not contain language unsuitable for families, e.g. profanity, sexually explicit content. Time limitations will be strictly enforced to ensure all readers can participate. As a courtesy, please remain present until the final poems are read.

Grass Dual Slalom Mountain Bike Race
We’re kicking off the opening of the new Bike Park trails with the  inaugural Grass Dual Slalom Mountain Bike Race! It’ll take place on the  Main Street ski trail. Riders will start at the top of Main Street and  use gravity to propel themselves downhill at high speeds! The Grass Dual  Slalom Race will utilize two side by side gated race courses on Main  Street, with the gates set similar to ski slalom gates. Racers will ride  down each run once and then choose which one they would like to re-run  for a final time.

Michigan Beer and Brat Festival

Michigan Beer and Brat Festival

The Michigan Beer and Brat Festival is back! Celebrate our 15th Annual celebration on Saturday, May 28, 2022. 

Enjoy live entertainment while sampling an enormous selection of Michigan's finest microbrews, meads, hard ciders, wine, liquor and gourmet brats from northwest Michigan markets. 

 

Token Admission

VIP Admission begins at 3pm, General Admission from 4-8pm. Ages 3 and under are free. This year, guests will pick up a token for festival admission. Tokens are designated with your appropriate festival entry time (either 3pm or 4pm). Any guests ages 21+ must show valid photo I.D. at admission to the festival. Guests will then be provided a color coded wristband to verify age and admission.

Tokens are available for pick up May 16 - 28 at Crystal Mountain's Front Desk, located in the Inn at the Mountain. If you are picking up your token on Saturday, May 28, they will be available at the Front Desk until Noon, or you can visit the lower level of the Crystal Center after 2pm.

VIP Admission - Limited Tickets Available!

$75 per person. Includes early festival access (3pm), one 8oz beer glass, one lanyard glass holder, 20 event tickets and two special edition beers.

General Admission

Includes one 8oz beer glass and 10 event tickets. Admission begins at 4pm.

Through April 4: $40 per person
April 5 - May 27: $50 per person

Day Of: $60 per person

Additional tickets will be available to purchase at the festival for $1 each. Tickets can be used toward a wide selection of Michigan craft beers, meads, hard ciders, wine, liquor, brats, soda, water, and delicious sides! No refunds.

Full Pour: 3 - 6 tickets*
Half Brat: 2 tickets
Full Brat: 4 tickets

*Some specialty craft beers, meads, hard ciders, wine, and liquor may be 4-6 tickets due to limited availability.


Entertainment

TC Knuckleheads , 3-5pm

The TC Knuckleheads are a fun-loving group of musicians that play great rhythm and blues, classic and current rock and country. They're ready to get the party started!

Jedi Mind Trip , 5:30-8pm

Jedi Mind Trip is a rock and roll band playing your favorite hits from the 70's, 80's and today! If you're ready to dance and rock out, you won't be disappointed.  

Free Benzie Bus Rides

In addition to our resort shuttles that can transport guests to and from their resort accommodations, Benzie Bus will also provide free rides for festival attendees in the local area. Please schedule your ride by calling 231-325-3000. 

Crystal Mountain asks that you please be responsible about your alcohol consumption. We encourage our guests to assign a designated driver or use on-property shuttles when leaving the festival. Cars left overnight will not be ticketed or towed. Those who choose not to drink at the festival will still have to pay the same price for admission as those who are drinking. All attendees have access to a lineup of musical talent, food and beverage vendors, merchandise, festival activities and prizes. For this reason, discounted tickets are not available. Any guests ages 21+ must show valid photo I.D. at admission to the festival.  

Coolers are not permitted on the festival grounds. No pets allowed. Tickets are non-refundable. The festival will occur regardless of the weather conditions. If you cannot attend for any reason, you may sell or transfer your ticket to someone else.
