Peaktoberfest

Peaktoberfest, happening October 18-20, 2019, includes first-class mountain bike racing, live music, family fun, great German food and award-winning brews surrounded by the autumn colors of northern Michigan.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 19

14TH ANNUAL FOUNDERS PEAK2PEAK MOUNTAIN BIKE CLASSIC

9:30am-12:30pm, base of Crystal Clipper chairlift
The 14th Annual Founders Peak2Peak Mountain Bike Classic is held in and around the beautiful, gently rolling terrain surrounding Crystal Mountain. The race starts and finishes near the base of the front-side slopes. Riders journey through hardwood and pine forests along rambling two-tracks and flowing single-track on a course that is fast and challenging, but not so difficult that racers new to the sport won't have a great time. Learn More »

JUNIOR RACES

Tour de Tykes (ages 7-12 or 6 and under)

1pm:  Register your kids for the Tour De Tykes Races at the Mountain Adventure Zone! Future Peak2Peak Mountain Bike racers are invited to participate in the annual Tour de Tykes or our newly added Tour de Trax.

2pm:  Younger racers (ages 6 and under) can take part in the Tour de Tiny Tykes. Be sure to pre-register at the Mountain Adventure Zone.
2:30pm:  The Tour de Tykes race is for racers aged 7-12 years old. Be sure to pre-register at the Mountain Adventure Zone.

All participants receive medals and are sure to have a great time!

Tour de Trax (ages 8+)

3:30pm:  This race is for young, enthusiastic riders ready for a challenge! Racers ages 8 + will start and finish at the Peak2Peak gate. This single lap, 6-mile mountain bike course will challenge young Mountain Bikers to push their limits. Finisher medals for all racers and place medals to the top three overall. Parents are encouraged to ride along with first-time or timid racers.

Register Online: $20 per person  (Registration Opens: TBD)

Day-Of Registration: $30 per racer

HAUNTED TRAIL

7:30 - 9:30pm:  Choose between the family friendly Spooky Walk or terrifying Haunted Trail. Ride the Loki lift & follow the lanterns down your chosen trail. $9 per person, 6 & under free with paying adult.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 20

PEAKTOBER FALL MOUNTAIN BIKE COLOR TOUR

11am: Ride the iconic Peak2Peak race course at a leisurely tour pace - all the beauty with less sweat! This is an easy paced mountain bike ride and no one will be left behind. Enjoy our route along the Betsie River Pathway and make a pit-stop at Iron Fish Distillery for a tour and drinks. The ride will conclude back at Crystal Mountain.

Cost: $29 per person; Includes rental bike and helmet OR only $10 if you bring your own bike. 

Helmets are required for this ride.

Attention Benzie County & Beyond residents that do not live in an area where kids come to your house to Trick or Treat on HALLOWEEN...

Do you want to hand out candy to the little ones?!??!

Do you live out of town and NO ONE comes to get candy from you?

Well, the Frankfort-Elberta Chamber of Commerce and the City of Frankfort have a solution for you!  It's called TRUNK OR TREAT!

On October 31, come to downtown Frankfort between 5pm and 8pm - Park your vehicle in a parking space on Main Street (BACK IN on the North Side of the Street) between 3rd and 6th streets and you can handout candy to the kids that come by.

Decorate your car and/or yourself and have a great time!

Join us for "An Afternoon with Author Joseph Heywood". Heywood’s bestselling Woods Cop mysteries are based on the lives of Upper Peninsula conservation officers. Heywood is a Vietnam Veteran and former adjunct professor of professional writing at Western Michigan University. This is the author's 20th consecutive year patrolling with local DNR Officers and spends roughly a month each year in the field with the DNR. Refreshments provided.

ANNUAL WOMEN’S RETREAT

Blaine Christian Church, 7018 Putney Road (corner of Joyfield and Putney Roads), invites all the women in our area to come to the church for their Annual Women’s Retreat on Saturday, November 16, 2019.  The retreat begins at 8:45 am and will conclude at 1 pm after lunch is provided.  There is a small fee to cover the cost of the retreat.

The theme of the retreat is “BREATHE: Finding The Rest You Need Before The Climb You Are Called To”.  Special speaker, Lee Nienhuis, has been described as passionate, engaging, and sincere.  she firmly believes that God’s Word transforms lives today.

Please call the church, 231/352-9148, by the deadline of Wednesday, November 13th  to RSVP to insure enough food is available for lunch.  When you call, let the church know if you need child care.

You and your family are welcome to get to know our church family on Sunday mornings at 8:30 am (contemporary service), or at 11 am (blended service).  Separate activities, through “Kid’s Kare”, are provided at each service for children 3 - 6 years old.  Sunday School classes for children 2 years old through adults meet at 9:45 am.
