Decorated Light Pole Contest

Let's make this town look great for Fall! For only $10, you, your family, your business or organization can decorate a light pole in town (Frankfort and Elberta). Poles will be judged on Friday, October 11 after 12 noon. Winners of the best poles (1st, 2nd 3rd) will receive cash prizes!

 

EVERYONE is invited to participate in Frankfort's Fall Festival’s Decorated Light Pole Contest in downtown Frankfort and Elberta. Street decorations are shown to attract additional visitors to the area and enhance the mood of the season. This is a fun and creative way to increase the public’s awareness of your business or organization.

Families, groups, businesses or individuals may “purchase” light poles for a donation of only $10 a pole. Decorating begins as early as

Saturday, September 28th and must be completed by

NOON Friday, October 11th.

Judging of the light poles will take place

Friday afternoon, October 11th

Winners will be announced Saturday, October 12th ,

at the Fall Festival in Frankfort. CASH PRIZES will be awarded

to the top 3 best-decorated poles.

HELP  THOSE  IN  NEED  BY  EATING  APPLE  PIE

Once again, it’s that time of year when Blaine Christian Church has their Annual Heavenly Apple Pie Day.  Fresh, homemade, 8 inch apple pies will be available for $8 each.

Make your upcoming holiday dinners easier and help those who are in need at the same time - call the church, 231/352-9148, to order your pies by the deadline of Monday, October 21st.  Pies will be uncooked and ready to bake or freeze.

Pie orders will need to be picked up at Blaine Township Hall between Noon and 2 pm on Friday, November 1st.  Directions to Blaine Township Hall:  travel on M-22, turn west on White Owl Road, continue until the road ends.  Address is:  4760 Herring Grove Road, Arcadia.

Pies can be paid for when picked up either with cash or a check payable to:  Blaine CWF.

Blaine Christian Church strives to “love our neighbors” in our community and in our world.  When you purchase heavenly apple pies, ALL funds raised are given to Benzie County missions agencies and other national missions organizations.

Blaine Christian Church is located at 7018 Putney Road (corner of Joyfield and Putney Roads).  You and your family are welcome to get to know our church family on Sunday mornings at 8:30 am (contemporary service), or at 11 am (blended service).  Separate activities, through “Kid’s Kare”, are provided at each service for children 2 - 6 years old.  Sunday School classes for children 2 years old through adults meet at 9:45 am.

Frankfort Fall Festival

 

SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES 2019

 

The annual Fall Festival festivities begin with a pancake breakfast hosted by the Frankfort Fire Department at The Hotel Frankfort from 7:00 am - 11:00 AM. Starting at 11:00 am, the Fall Festival Parade Register for Parade here, featuring The Scottville Clown Band, GIANT pumpkins, locally built floats and the always popular Mutt March Register for the Mutt March here. If you would like to donate prizes to the Mutt March, please contact our office 231-352-7251 or fcofc@frankfort-elberta.com.  

 

Don't forget to grab your 2019 Fall Festival souvenir T-Shirts and Cinch Bags at the Frankfort-Elberta Chamber of Commerce booth the day of the festival or at the Chamber office 517 Main St. Frankfort. 

 

Directly following the parade, a host of activities will take place in the Open Space Park.

 

  • Mutt March Awards Live Music featuring The Scottville Clown Band will perform under the Big Tent, which also features domestic beer and wine and beer from Stormcloud, Wine, Mead from St. Ambrose and Cocktails from Iron Fish!
  • GIANT pumpkins, squash and watermelon weigh-in.
  • Kids 5-15 years of age can guess the weight of a giant pumpkin and have the opportunity to win a brand new BIKE!
  • Back by Popular demand: Helicopter Rides - $55 per person. Departs from the Boat Launch parking lot at 10th and Main St.
  • Pumpkin Ed Moody will there carving a giant pumpkin
  • The Frankfort Fire Department will host Kids Activities and Demos near the Library
  • Starting at noon, judging for the Home Brew Competition at Stormcloud Brewing Co.
  • Food Available in Open Space provided by theBoy Scout Troop 10.
  • Free Wagon Rides through downtown Frankfort
  • First Congregational Church will host their Cake Walk at 1pm
  • Bid on some fantastic items at the Silent Auction 11p-2:00pm
  • Who doesn't love a Pie Eating Contest?! (Register at 1:00pm - contest begins at 1:30pm)
  • Our Fall Festival would not be the same without the CRAZY Pumpkin Drop! 2:30pm near boat launch.

 

Sorry, NO TREBUCHET for launching pumpkins.

 

A wide variety of activities will be available from 11:00 am - 3:30pm:

 

  • A Beer, Wine, Mead and Cocktail Tent (Open until 5pm) After the Scottville Clown Band, Bill Frary will play live until 5pm.
  • Pumpkin Decorating
  • Hillbilly Olimpiks, the silly-themed obstacle course
  • Popular Kid's Games and a Straw Maze will be all set up in Open Space Park for all to enjoy. 
  • Bounce House
  • Pumpkin Decorating hosted by Olver Art Center
  • Fall-Themed Craft Fair
  • The Garden Theater will again host FREE showings of "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" at 2:00 and 3:00 pm. 
  • Don't miss the Oktoberfest Party to cap off Beer Week at Stormcloud Brewing Company. Music Starts at 8pm 
  • The returning BEER, WINE, MEAD and COCKTAIL TENT will be in the Open Space starting at 11am. Celebrate Frankfort Beer Week with a fun Beer tent with Live Music featuring the Scottville Clown Band and Bill Frary.

14TH ANNUAL FOUNDERS PEAK2PEAK MOUNTAIN BIKE CLASSIC

9:30am-12:30pm, base of Crystal Clipper chairlift
The 14th Annual Founders Peak2Peak Mountain Bike Classic is held in and around the beautiful, gently rolling terrain surrounding Crystal Mountain. The race starts and finishes near the base of the front-side slopes. Riders journey through hardwood and pine forests along rambling two-tracks and flowing single-track on a course that is fast and challenging, but not so difficult that racers new to the sport won't have a great time. Learn More »

JUNIOR RACES

Tour de Tykes (ages 7-12 or 6 and under)

1pm:  Register your kids for the Tour De Tykes Races at the Mountain Adventure Zone! Future Peak2Peak Mountain Bike racers are invited to participate in the annual Tour de Tykes or our newly added Tour de Trax.

2pm:  Younger racers (ages 6 and under) can take part in the Tour de Tiny Tykes. Be sure to pre-register at the Mountain Adventure Zone.
2:30pm:  The Tour de Tykes race is for racers aged 7-12 years old. Be sure to pre-register at the Mountain Adventure Zone.

All participants receive medals and are sure to have a great time!

Tour de Trax (ages 8+)

3:30pm:  This race is for young, enthusiastic riders ready for a challenge! Racers ages 8 + will start and finish at the Peak2Peak gate. This single lap, 6-mile mountain bike course will challenge young Mountain Bikers to push their limits. Finisher medals for all racers and place medals to the top three overall. Parents are encouraged to ride along with first-time or timid racers.

Register Online: $20 per person  (Registration Opens: TBD)

Day-Of Registration: $30 per racer

PEAKTOBER FALL MOUNTAIN BIKE COLOR TOUR

11am: Ride the iconic Peak2Peak race course at a leisurely tour pace - all the beauty with less sweat! This is an easy paced mountain bike ride and no one will be left behind. Enjoy our route along the Betsie River Pathway and make a pit-stop at Iron Fish Distillery for a tour and drinks. The ride will conclude back at Crystal Mountain.

Cost: $29 per person; Includes rental bike and helmet OR only $10 if you bring your own bike. 

Helmets are required for this ride.
