Tactility

Tactility

“Tactility”, an exhibition highlighting the design principle of texture in art, will open the 2025 exhibition season at the Oliver Art Center in Frankfort on January 10th, 2025.

There will be a public opening reception event on Friday January 10, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The exhibition will continue through February 14th.  The show will feature 2D and 3D artwork provided by four headlining artists: Detroit contemporary multi-media artist Robert Mirek, Bay City fiber artist Susan Pack, and two local artists – Jessica Kovan (mixed media) and Austin Garno (repurposed metal sculpture and mixed assemblage).  The exhibition will also have on display work from a variety of other regional artists who are participating through a curated open call.

The Oliver Art Center is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization and is open to the public Tues.-Sat. 10:00 am- 4:00 pm and Sunday from 12:00 pm -  4:00 pm.

Bio: Ron Harrison and friends like to play a wide variety of music. Stop by to hear selections of easy listening, soul, country, samba, cajun, WHATEVA! 

Funds are raised on a monthly basis by means of live concerts that are free of charge and open to the public. What is the Benzonia Area Community Emergency Fund?
The Benzonia Area Community Emergency Fund will financially assist an individual or a family that has fallen upon hard times. This is done on a one time basis through the payment of a known expense such as a medical, housing or utility bill. Funds are collected and administered through the Mills Community House Association.

Adventures in Beekeeping

Have you ever wanted to start beekeeping? Do you want to make some extra money selling pure honey, pollen, propyl’s and candles? Then beekeeping may be for you! Classes will be held at the Betsy Valley District Library in Thompsonville beginning on February 1, 2025 at 1 PM. Tuition is set at $75 for the entire course and this includes one season of personal mentorship from the instructor. If you’re interested in joining a bunch of novice beekeepers learning about honeybees and having fun in that the yard, please attend the first meeting on February 1, 2025. Classes will be limited to 15 students to ensure that each student receives personal mentorship. Questions, please call 231.378.2716 You can pick up an Informational packet at the BVDL.
